GIRL in Tech Mentoring + Bursary Scheme
Updated: Jun 29, 2018
Thanks to the generous donation of a friend of the organisation we are able to launch a mentoring + bursary scheme, for a black female (aged 16 – 23) with the aptitude for STEM subjects.
We are launching the scheme at Google's Digital Academy in Victoria.
The launch event is for any girl aged 15-23, that has an interest in a career in Business (Marketing and Sales), IT or Technical (Software Developing and Design), that would like to hear from a panel of women and Google employees who are achieving career success!
If that's, you, you can register via the link or share the link with someone who would benefit: https://form.jotformeu.com/81621754794364
Successful students will get six months of mentoring from a female in technology, covering topics of Gender, Identity, Race and Leadership and be offered an opportunity to apply for a small bursary after completing mentoring.
Our aim is to always tailor our programmes, as such, how the bursary is used will be decided once we have chosen the person it will be awarded to.
It might be that the successful person is interested in developing their technical skills e.g. software design, coding, modelling languages etc, in which case, the bursary would be used to send that person to a technology bootcamp where they can learn all these skills.
Or, we might send the person to a big tech company in another part of the UK/Europe to gain some valuable work experience, in which case the bursary would cover travel, accommodation and expenses.
